Death at Elgin Insane Asylum and Local Notices
Charles Denure, recently sent from Stephenson county to Elgin insane asylum, cut his throat with a razor and died within hours. He lived near Eleroy and leaves a wife and several children. The Winslow Reporter is no more, Ed itor Zerbe moving to Atkinson Illinois to start a new paper. A veteran county surveyor, L. B. Thorp of Hitt, may be re-elected. Coal merchant G. M. Wales plans a plant to screen coal at Fairbank Scale Co. and hopes to handle wood by carload. The Mt Carroll Democrat’s Lanark correspondent is criticized for false or misleading statements about a wheel of fortune.

The Lanark community bids farewell to Prof F T Oldt and his wife Mrs Oldt as they move to Green Bay Wis. after seventeen years of service in education and civic life. He led local schools and the Lanark Manufacturing Company and was active in Masonic circles while Mrs Oldt contributed to the W C T U. A presentation table was given in thanks for his long devotion. An ordination service for Rev A F Houser followed officiated by a Baptist council. Community notes include WCTU convention details and a children’s meeting led by Mrs E Barden with contests from several towns.
