County approves interstate move and courthouse remodeling push

Dawson County commissioners backed a campaign to designate US 87 as interstate and asked the Highway Department to act. The court also moved to have Architect Harvey Allen finish plans for courthouse remodeling including paneling and new HVAC. Saturday includes Kiwanis Kids Day Parade and Optimist Punt Pass and Kick tryouts. Dollar Day in Lamesa Monday prompts local shoppers to visit merchants. Booster Club hosts Country Western Jamboree at the High School Auditorium with tickets at members and at the door.

Punt Pass and Kick contest set for Saturday at Tor Stadium

Lamesa hosts annual Punt Pass and Kick at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tor Stadium sponsored by White Ford Sales and the Lamesa Optimist Club. 8-13 year old boys may register by 6 p.m. Friday at White Ford Sales with a parent or guardian. no entry fee. Trophies go to top three in each category. funds drawn from County Revenue Sharing.

Kids Day Parade Promises Fun For Dawson County

The Kiwanis Club hosts a Saturday Kids Day parade starting at 1 pm. Students from Dawson Countys middle school and Pee Wee footballers lead, with the Boys Club teams in uniform, a bike brigade, and the band. Ice cream bars and prizes for best decorated bikes await at the end.

Tower Climbers Replace Lamesa Cable TV Antenna

Lamesa Country Western Jamboree Set Saturday Night

Lamesa booster club hosts annual Country Western Jamboree in the high school auditorium at 7 30 pm with four top bands. Admission is 1 for adults and 50 cents for students and each band performs 45 minutes followed by a short interlude of other entertainments. Constable Bottles White will oversee the event, expected to run shorter than last year.

Friday Deadline for School Immunization Updates

Friday is the last day for Lamesa School students to update immunization records. Superintendent Neal Chastain says the district will transport students to the Dawson County Health Department for immunizations all day Friday. Parents received permission slips, and the clinic will be open for those who wish to bring their child themselves.
