Special Education bus goes into service in Lamesa

A new specially designed special education bus with a wheelchair lift began service in Lamesa this week. It seats about 17 and replaces two older buses used for disabled students. The system includes manual lift backup, rear wheelchair brackets, and safety belts. About 17 daily riders are expected, with several in wheelchairs among roughly 400 students in the program.

Graduation slated Friday at Klondike High School

Twenty one students will receive diplomas Friday in commencement at Klondike High School. Exercises start at 8 p m in the auditorium with Superintendent James Logan presenting diplomas and Principal Mike Cope awarding scholarships and other honors. Valedictorian Windy West and salutatorian Cheryl Williams lead the class. baccalaureate speaker was Larry Curry of Lamesa Middle School.

Middle School Tracks Proposal Aims At 7000 Dollar Fundraiser

Lamesa Middle School students push for a four lane track around the football field funded equally by student groups and the district.
