Senior Citizens Week Plans In Lamesa
Plans final for Senior Citizens Week in Lamesa from May 6 to 12 led by Mrs Nadeen Blair director of the local Senior Citizens Center. Lakesa Ministerial Alliance to seek church recognition at the start. Tuesday features a community luncheon at the Center with covered dishes and a $1.90 ticket. Special activities planned for Thursday. A ladies breakfast is planned and Friday set as Playday at the Center.

Cline Is Renamed Mayor Bryant Pro-Tem in Lamesa Budget
The Lamesa City Council approved a 1973 74 budget of 1 335 124 for city operations with inflation water costs and salary hikes. No tax rate changes are planned though revenue from ad valorem taxes sales licenses and rentals totals 836 024 while water and sewer revenues add 499 100. The largest spending goes to Water and Sewer 306 897 Police 205 374 Street 174 841 Parks 80 696 Fire 99 680 and Administration 76 791. Total expenses near 1 276 737 leaving a surplus as Revenue Sharing funds are earmarked later. A public hearing was held with no questions. The council will have a second reading at the next meeting.

Allen's Galley Restaurant Sale Announced Today
Allen's Galley on N Dallas and Lynn Streets is sold to John and Lucille Watson. The Watsons, longtime Lamesa residents, took ownership Monday. Ed and Marie Allen plan rest and travel. The sale preserves the Allen's Galley name and notes no staff changes for now.

Four Youthful Burglars Nabbed in Welch 66 Service Station Heist
Sheriff's officials arrested two 17 year olds, an 18 year old, and a 16 year old after a Sunday night burglary at Orville Hullett Welch 66 Service Station. Investigators recovered 47 tape decks and seven books of 5,000 S H Green Stamps taken in the theft.
