Prowers Republicans Choose Harmony Ticket At Convention
The Prowers County Republican convention on September 8 1891 at the courthouse adopted a permanent organization and elected a full slate led by Morton J Underwood for County Clerk and Recorder. Delegates from Carlton Granada Holly Lamar Wilde chose W P James for Commissioner Third District and other officers. The meeting praised J D Martin and adjourned sine die with a unified ticket.

Important bill targets ammonia in baking powders
New York Assembly member Mr. Kelly introduced an act to forbid sale of baking powders containing ammonia or other injurious ingredients. It requires a conspicuous label on every can or package saying Contains Ammonia and makes noncompliant sale a misdemeanor. The act would take effect July 1, 1891.
