Novel Pacing Dog from Faribault Captures Attention

Dr M B Scott of Faribault, Minnesota has trained Gypsy a purebred St Bernard to pace and race, possibly the only documented pacing dog. Gypsy, 140 pounds and about four years old, can cover a quarter mile in 45 seconds from a standing start and completes an eighth in 20. He races without a driver against horses or bicycles, a curious spectacle that has drawn national interest.
