Tax Levy Debate Reflects on County Spending
In a dispute over a 30 mill tax levy the article questions why delinquent tax lists are still advertised and paid for by the county. School Notes and Library Updates
Over twenty dollars' worth of books have been ordered for the library. Vertical copy books have arrived and are being put into the different grades. A new Standard Dictionary with atlas will soon be added to the school property. The competition for the best bulletin-board record promises to be interesting for the present month. Considerable sickness prevails among pupils of the school. This coupled with the carelessness of others has made our attendance lower than we like to see. Nothing can help pupils so much throughout their school work as the formation of correct habits. Here is a list of illusions and delusions given by an excellent authority. It is a mistake to think. That looking on the printed page is study. That seclusion and absolute quiet are essential to study. That a good excuse is equivalent to a good lesson. That we can learn without study. That we can make up wasted time. That you can do wrong and not be found out. That the fickle succeed. That evil company will not harm you. That happiness comes from our surroundings. That intending to do is as good as doing. That he who speaks to us of our errors is our enemy. That the more we pull another down, the higher we rise ourselves. That second-rate work will receive first-class pay. That it is right for me to do what I think it wrong for others to do. That wrong is right if many are engaged in it. That the idle are happy.
