Republicans Meet in County Convention Amid Strong Attendance
Despite stormy weather, delegates and spectators filled the county Republican convention, with 76 of 80 delegates present. The event elected S F White as temporary chair, Mrs L M Blackwell as secretary, and adopted a strong platform praising McKinley, supporting Roosevelt, denouncing fusion governance, and pledging unity behind the Republican ticket for county offices including treasurer W W Reynolds and sheriff Geo D Cole with Thomas as nominee.

Political Nominations Prevailed At Lamar Delegation Meeting
A Lamar delegation led by Mrs. Ella Barnes backed Rosebrough for professor and Mrs. Barnes for county judge, with Rosebrough defeating Barnes on the second ballot. J. W. Gordon and W. I. McPherson won, L. M. Markham and Fred Lee were re nominated for surveyor and coroner, and A. E. Bent elected county committee chairman with Mrs. L. M. Blackwell as vice-chair. Lamar also named precinct committee members and later nominated James for justice and Mausville for constable.
