Masons, Odd Fellows, and temperance groups hold monthly or weekly gatherings. Lodges like Lamax Lodge No. 80 meet Tuesdays at 5 PM. Lavar No. 9 meets on the third Saturday. G. A. R. Carson Post No. 39 meets on the second and fourth Thursdays. Echoes of community leaders invite comrades to attend. Granada Societies include A P & AM Granada Lover No. 72 and I.O.O.P. Church Services Announced by Various Pastors

Rabbit Day committees named for hunts and plans

At a Rabbit Day meeting the Rabb ot Day association formed committees for Arrangements Finance Transportation and Reception with a long list of members led by Dr J S Hasty C M Lee J G Boyd Fred Schmidt and Mayor Underwood The group aims to mobilize workers while rabbits multiply on the north side despite favorable weather and a 1 registration fee will fund cleaning and shipment of rabbits for the hunt. farm helpers are asked to report at Lamar. Also notes Twin girls born to Ellery Vincent and local activity on Horse Creek including Amity canal work and new school terms.

Water flows through May Valley as fields stay wet. W P James and Frank Lay supply Lamar creamery with hundreds of pounds of milk daily. T S Morris moves into George Snuffret’s former home as Tidwell farm appears. A Pleasant Valley May Valley debate is planned for Friday evening between local communities. Two Otero county youths aged 15 and 17 have received only three days of schooling in seven years due to parents and school boards. The boys are bright and the situation prompts concern about education.

Lamar School Notes Show Visitors and Exams Ahead

The Lamar School reports several visitors this week as all grades prepare for next week's examinations. The Tea Spoon club plans a social soon while Misses D Lynch and L Scott visited. Enrollment rises to 148 with grades 1 through 11 listed and teacher updates include a dustless crayon purchase.
