Fourth of July Sports and Amusements Arranged in Lamar
Citizens organized a full day of events for the Fourth featuring a Lamar versus Syracuse baseball game for a $25 purse, a procession to a grove for an address by Granby Hillyer, a basket dinner with free lemonade, and numerous prizes in horse races, novelty races, and a ten mile bicycle race. Fireworks, Colebourne’s family band, and a large evening ball at Goll’s hall are planned with music by Colebourn’s orchestra. entries close August 1.
