Lamar Celebrates With Base Ball Game And Night Events
A large Lamar crowd enjoyed a countywide celebration last Saturday. Granada defeated Lamar 18 to 14 after a shaky second inning, with Adkins and Andre delivering strong pitching. The day included parades, horse and foot races, fireworks, a dance, shooting gallery, and ample ice cream.

Lamar's Annual Fire Destroys Several Frame Buildings
A Tuesday fire in Lamar, driven by a strong SW wind, destroyed several wooden structures including Garrett and Hoffman's carpenters shop and Harrell's livery barn. Firefighters confined flames within half a block after a 4:30 p.m. alarm. no insurance covered the losses, which hit Silas Martin's residence and other properties hardest.

Land in Colorado Sold Under Trust Wake to Water Access
The Arkansas River Reservoir and Canal Company deeded land in Colorado to a trustee for irrigation with two percent monthly interest. Thomas L. Smith as successor trustee will sell the described property and water rights on August 3, 1597, at the Denver court house Tremont Street front door. First publication July 3, 1897.
