About fifteen men arrived with six carloads of farm materials for the north side. Hagadorn and Hanson from southwest Minnesota plan orchards and development work, building temporary housing, irrigation, and expanding stock and general farming into on farm industries. They urge Colorado farmers to push manufacturing on the farm and ask citizens to pressure the senator in Washington regarding the tariff bill.
A large crowd gathered from La Mar and Las Animas to witness water release at the King reservoir. Receiver Burke and several farmers attended as the gates admitted the first flow, marking the first use after six years of storage. Farmers deserve credit for pushing the project to completion.
District Court adjourned session presided by Judge Northcutt. E. L. Koen versus Mc Laure et al ruled for plaintiff over water rights in the Colorado and Kansas Canal with a special assessment of 12 per water right ordered to pay canal indebtedness. Canton Wrought Iron Bridge Company versus Prowers County ended with $6500 judgment against the county by mutual agreement to cover bridge debt not funded by 1895 tax levy.
The Prowers Sugar Beet Growers Association will meet Wednesday March 4 at 2 p m sharp at the courthouse to complete the organization recruit seed and add members under secretary Dr Furenn.
W. W. Dale as successor in trust will sell at public auction on March 4, 1886 in Denver, Arapahoe County, the east half of the southwest quarter of section 2, township 22 south range 47 west, including water right No. 17 of La Junta and Lamar canal, to satisfy the indebtedness secured by Alfred W. trust deed to Henry J. Aldrich. Taxes default and interest due, sale to pay costs.
