Local merchants promote bargains on peach butter felt shoes mufflers cloaks and cheap cabinets while services from a barber shop grocer blacksmith and wagon maker are highlighted. Community items report marriage licenses dances church programs school notes and state teachers association activities in Lamar and nearby Holly with social events and upcoming lectures.
Sixteenth session of the Prowers County Teachers Association set for January 14 1899 at 1 30 pm in the Lamar public school building. Program includes Rev J S Knocker music a talk on Reproductive Imagination Memory discussions by Miss Allie Moury J Rosebrough Miss Geneva Morehouse J B Carley on Productive Imagination and more with a Question Box led by Miss Aura M Fouy Topics drawn from Sallys Teachers Handbook of Psychology part 2. An 7 30 pm free lecture on Educational Progress by Dr Alston Ellis president of State Agricultural College. All invited including non teachers to attend and submit questions.
