PSE SURRENDERS IN tariff caucus settled meanwhile
In a heated house caucus on the tariff Speaker Crisp offered a resolution and the body voted 102 to 21 to recede from the senate amendments. Mr Wilson argued against the sugar trust and the ad valorem plan, alleging vast profits and a $40,000,000 gain from raw sugar deals. The caucus adjourned after a sharp day of speeches and urgent partisan rhetoric as Democrats split on the measure.
