Death of A J Hottel Looms Large in Lamar

Andrew J. Hottel known as Jack, manager of The Lamar Mill, died after a brief illness at his Sixth street home. He led local business, aided county progress, and left a wife and three children. Funeral rites were led by Rev Knuckey with Masonic burial at Riverside Cemetery. Griffith the Denver evangelist closed a Sunday School tour in Lamar. J R Thompson and Sadie Maxwell wed in Lamar with praise for the couple. Lawrence Woodard married Daisy Horn in Bent County.

Institute Notes from La Junta Two Weeks Session Ended

The Normal Institute for District No. 8 in La Junta closed a two weeks session with steady attendance and lively interest. Superintendent Helen L. Grenfell visited on the last day and gave a constructive lecture. A spelling contest preceded a series of platform expressions of appreciation and goodwill as teachers and committee members were called forward. A set of resolutions with helpful suggestions was adopted. Enrollment from Prowers county ranked second to Otero and higher than Lamar last year, with about half as many teachers as Otero. Readout lists include Ella Barnes, Lizzie Harper, Jessie Puntenney, Carrie S G Tregoning, Ethel Hoffman, Carrie Hainline, Dena Thoman, Effie Wilson, and Messrs B R Jones, David Barnes, Geo Robinson, J R Puntennery, A F Glase, Geo KX Momyer.
