Mermaid of the seas or dugong on view at academy
A former specimen from the sea, identified as a dugong, draws public attention as a living link to mythic mermaids. The animal, nursing its young, moves horizontally in the water, challenging the legend with its real, fleshy form and placid disposition. Nearby notes describe coastal life, parks, and local adverts.
