Holiday scams target seniors in rising swindle season
Police warn of peak holiday swindles by con artists posing as charitable groups and using fake identities to obtain credit and bank data. Elderly victims are especially at risk due to isolation and willingness to help. One 80 year old Westminster resident, Mario Seda, was drained of 30000 from his checking account after agreeing to move money for promised charities. He was urged to take a home equity loan to prove financial stability.
