ROMEO group chats over lunch in Lake Forest cafe
A group of octogenarian men meet weekly at Jolanda's Café in Lake Forest for noon meals and talk. They call themselves ROMEO and describe the lunch as an alternative to golf and poker, sharing stories and city politics while recounting golf scores and aging perspectives. The group began nine years ago by Marty Ovitsky and Jack Narad.

Mutuals deny bid to survey residents on direct election
In Laguna, Golden Rain Foundation directors failed to reach the 6 360 weighted votes required to place a survey question on direct election of GRF directors on the ballot. The issue, supported by a residents group, would have asked Third and United Mutual residents whether to adopt direct GRF elections.

The
Revised facilities agreement surprises Laguna Woods clubs
Laguna Woods Village mailed a revised facility reservation agreement to officers of more than 200 clubs this month. The document adds a clause that clubs must hold Golden Rain Foundation and the managing agent harmless for claims arising from facility use and insists clubs cover their own liability insurance. Club officers, including Chess Club president John Griffin, learned of the change after receiving the agreement and some had already signed. A Laguna Woods Village spokesperson confirmed the language.
