Breakers surfers show promise in season opener loss
Laguna Beach Breakers opened the fall 2014 season at Laguna Beach with an 87 to 81 defeat to Newport Harbor. Freshmen and new faces boosted both Boys Shortboard and Girls Longboard, with Jakob Herbert and Dylan Davis earning boys shortboard wins and Megan Matthews taking second in girls longboard. Teammates Cayla Henderson and Kira Hamilton placed third and fourth in girls, while Grace Wellsfry and Coco Putnam finished third and fourth in girls shortboard heats. The team next faces San Clemente on October 14 at T Street.
