Charges Dismissed In Case Of Laguna Cyclist Death
A Superior Court judge dismissed misdemeanor manslaughter charges against Irvine motorist Robert James Anderson, who told the court he did not kill cyclist Debra Deem. The Sept. 22 ruling came after a Sept. 12 mistrial with a 7-5 deadlock on vehicular manslaughter charges. Debra Deem, 58, was struck Aug. 2018 on East Coast Highway in Newport Beach, as her husband Paul Deem filed suit against state and city for dangerous roadway conditions.
