Transforming a Treasure by Boessenkool Urth Caffé arrives at The Cottage Laguna
The transforming of the historic Cottage restaurant into Urth Caffé began after a Laguna Beach traffic jam inspired owners Shallom and Jilla Berkman to choose the spot. The 1917 Craftsman residence hosted Joe Skidmore, a Laguna Beach real estate developer, and served as Laguna Vista Cafe in 1938 before becoming The Cottage in the 1960s. The Berkmans seek very special sites and only open one Urth Caffé at a time, declaring The Cottage the only place right for their brand.
