IlluminOcean lights event ends as Dana Point resorts pull funding
IlluminOcean, the harbor LED light festival in Dana Point, has been canceled after Resorts of Dana Point cut funding. The four resorts, Laguna Cliffs Marriott, Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, St. Regis Monarch Beach, and DoubleTree by Hilton Doheny Beach, funded the show via a self- assessed fee to market the area. The promotion drew about 250,000 attendees last year over a 40 night run, aiding local merchants but not boosting overnight stays at the resorts.

Anaheim Man Hospitalized After Laguna Diving Mishap
Anaheim man airlifted to a Los Angeles area hospital after ascending too quickly during a scuba diving class at North Crescent Bay Beach. Laguna Beach police and fire medics found him unconscious and transported him to El Morro Elementary School for Mercy Air to carry to a hyperbaric chamber. Police said he panicked during the ascent. condition not immediately known.
