Marinette county plans an Oct. 12 demonstration to blow away an acre of stumps marking the completion of clearing 18,000 acres this year. The event honors county effort led by about 900 farmers with support from local business men the college of agriculture and power and powder firms with state officials expected to attend. The residence on E Fourth Street between Lindseo and Sabinavs owned by J. F. Mitchell burned to the roof after a Saturday morning blaze likely from electric wires. Illegal Hunting Draws Stiff Fines
In Justice Kirwan's court Wednesday Elmer Radloff arrested by Warden Frank Russell of Park Falls for hunting without a license and killing partridges in closed season was fined 50 dollars and costs on the first count and 5 dollars for the four birds totaling 78 dollars. The Ford car seized belonged to the Ladysmith Lighting Co and was restored to them. George B. Miller was fined 50 dollars and costs for hunting without license. Harry Kozel and C. E. Everson were fined the same amounts for similar offenses.

Stricken on Trip to Minn Dies in Barron Restaurant
Peter Klopfenstein Sr. died suddenly from heart failure brought on by indigestion while awaiting coffee in a Barron restaurant during a Minnesota trip with his wife and son. He was 55, born in Adelboden Switzerland, survived by his wife Rose, daughters Rose and Esther, and sons Peter Jr Christ Walter Haven and Laura. Burial was in Riverside after services at the Methodist church with relatives from several states in attendance.

Old Settler George Shattuck Dies at 61
George Shattuck longtime Hawkins area resident died in city hospital last Saturday from pneumonia after an appendicitis operation. His body was prepared at Pederson undertaking rooms and shipped to Hawkins for interment on Wednesday. He was 61.
