The News-Budget reports filing of nomination papers with City Clerk Putnam except Tom Baker's alderman bid. W. R. Howard of Greenwood faced Justice R. S. Reeves on a charge of possessing part of a deer dated November 10, just before the open season. Voters across Eau Claire Chippewa Rusk Sawyer counties back Col. L J Rusk for Circuit Judge. The Chippewa Falls attorney is praised for honesty tact and frugal court administration aiming to minimize county costs. Rusk’s long service on the state board of law examiners and banking ties bolster support. Supporters call him a trusted friend and capable leader. Election set for Tuesday April 6.

The W C T U arranges a declamatory contest at Worden's Opera House on Friday evening April 2 at eight o'clock. A silver W C T U medal will be awarded to first place. Admission is ten cents. The program lists acts by Rahal Steele, Rev Watson, Daisy Johnson, Goldie Findlay, Ruth Houston, Etta Shumway, Glen Eldred, and others with a high school orchestra and a judges' report.
T. M. Thomas returned home from Price county where he served as district attorney pro tem for three weeks. He secured two liquor law convictions and five saloon keepers pleaded guilty. The governor likely will reinstate him next Monday as investigators found no malfeasance warranting removal.
Mrs. Alfred Ginder received a $2000 life insurance payout from the M W A head office via the Head Banker for her deceased husband. During 14 years of membership he paid $128.80 into the benefit fund, with total dues not exceeding $175.

S. D. Switzer leaves Menasha Wooden Ware Co. after years in Lady Smith to become book keeper for G. W. Jones Lumber Co. He served as president of the local board of education for four years and was active in civic affairs. A farewell reception was held at G. S. Conklin’s home.
The Macey Entertainers greeted a good large audience at the opera house last Thursday night. The group, high standard musicians, pleased holders of lecture course tickets. They previously failed to arrive due to missing connections at Owen, and the Library Board was glad they did not accept a substitute from the lecture bureau.
In Flambeau the local political scene names candidates for several offices. For chairman the contenders are P. M. Bell M. Edgar and L. Bierman. Supervisors named include Wm Bruestle Edw Hunt and Robt Weston. Clerk candidate J. E. Frost. Treasurer hopefuls W. W. Pepper and A. M. Rosenquist. Assessor contenders are Alex Parks and Chas Purdum.
Ladysmith lodge Knights of Py thias hosts its annual ball Tuesday evening April 20. Music provided by the King orchestra. Tickets priced at 1 dollar.
Glen Flora District Attorney Andersen was called to Glen Flora Monday regarding the arrest of E. Craney, an ox saloon keeper, on the charge of selling liquor without a license. The hearing was postponed because the defendant's attorney, L. E. McGill, was out of the county.
