A large Rusk County gathering launched a 1920 plan to clear 6 000 acres of cut over land with a goal of funding and organizing countywide land clearing. Subscriptions topped 3 500 in minutes with many bankers and farmers pledging up to 150 dollars each to hire assistants and secure dynamite at lower costs.

Henry H. Bowen died February 21 at St Marys hospital from influenza and pneumonia at age 32 years 6 months 28 days. His remains were sent to Grundy Center Iowa his former home. He leaves a wife three sons a daughter and his parents Mr and Mrs H F H Boven two sisters and three brothers. The family came here Navy 1919 from Ortonville Minnesota and moved to a 40 acre farm southeast of the city which was to be their future home but for his death. The family will move to Iowa soon.
