League solicitors warned to leave county
Sheriff Dodson detained three solicitors for a non partisan league and brought them before the County Council of Defense. They were told their safety would improve if they left quickly before citizens learned of their presence. They arrived from St Paul in automobiles as advance guard of a larger delegation and collected $16 from farmers who joined. The men departed.

Recruiting Officer Arthur Lowder Dies After Short Illness
Arthur Lowder a navy and army recruiting officer died last Saturday morning at the Brunet river home of O S Weinberger after a weeklong pneumonia illness. A native of Kokomo Indiana his body was shipped from Ireland to buried in the family plot. He had recently arrived from Superior to seek recruits for the navy and was about 32 years old. Mrs A C Smith of Exeland and the Weinberger family cared for him during his final days.
