Normal School Commencement Highlights at Rusk County
The second annual Rusk County Normal commencement was held in the courthouse on Tuesday June 29 with graduates receiving three year teaching licenses. Students delivered a series of themes on education and reform, and the ceremony included a bac calaureate sermon and a alumni banquet at the Congregational Church.

Death Near River Bridge Shocks Community
A German man, Richard Bierlich, 53, was likely struck by an eastbound Soo Limited near the river bridge around midnight. His body was found split in two, with no foul play suspected. a purse and coins were recovered, and funeral services followed at Riverview cemetery.
