Excelsior Plant at Prentice to Employ 40 to 50
North Western Excelsior Mills Co plans a new plant at Prentice this summer. Work starts immediately and the facility should be ready by August first. The company has begun contracting for thousands of excelsior bolts from poplar basswood birch and balsam.

Rusk County Develops at Marvelous Rate
Ninety one settlers unloaded emigrant cars in Ladysmith in 1919 and about sixty cars at stations near Ladysmith. Last fall circa 200 settlers bought land near Ladysmith and will move onto and improve it. Average price paid was about 32.85 dollars per acre. A land man and two farmers and the farm editor counted renters in the county as six, likely undercounting. The county’s growth over five years is described as marvelous.

He bought the Price County Potato Co. implement business at Phillips and will supply the International line to Price county farmers. Joseph Hein of Grand Rapids will manage Phillips with plans for multiple branch houses and carload shipments from Ladysmith. Hein has ordered 15 carloads for 1920 with potential tripling by season's end.
