At Pearce's camp north of Kennan Hawkins Reporter reports Herman Hermanson W H Pearce and Selmer Erickson killed four bears with a single gunshot. Hermanson found a mother bear and two cubs asleep. the same bullet had struck a second cub. Selmer dispatched the remaining cubs with an axe.

Death of Andrew Farrell 25 in Ladysmith after illness
Andrew Farrell aged 25 died of consumption at the home of his sister Mrs. Robert Hooker in Ladysmith. He worked in Tony and Ladysmith at newspapers, later at Park Falls. He bore his illness bravely, with funeral rites arranged by the Odd Fellows of Tony and Ladysmith and a service at the Hooker residence before burial in Tony.

Mrs C F Winn Dies at 60 in City Home
Mrs. C. F. Winn died at about 10 oclock Wednesday forenoon at her city home from cerebral embolism. She leaves her husband and three children two daughters and one son. The funeral was held this forenoon from the residence with Rev Howe officiating and burial followed in Riverside cemetery.

Remains of Louis M Badger Buried in Riverside Cemetery
The 96 year old Louis M Badger died Tuesday from concussion after a fall. His body was brought from Minneapolis on Wednesday night for burial beside his wife who died three and a half years ago. Interment followed at Riverside with Rev. Sanders officiating. Miner Badger and another son from Mankato accompanied the remains.

Rusk county farmers institute draws large attendance
The Rusk county farmers institute held at the courthouse over two days drew a larger crowd than any previous edition. Institute conductors and discussions were well received and attendees felt amply repaid. Free dinners were provided by Ladysmith merchants. The cooking school drew about seventy women first day, more second day. A fine program at the opera house featured the high school orchestra under Miss Virum and solos by Miss Bowstead and Mr. Bunker. McKerrow's address, though marred briefly by students, was praised for its practical horse sense. Ek C Jacobs of Elk Mound, brother of E H Jacobs who runs Shaw Dam mill, conducted the event.
