Beavers Reserve Fund Fraternity elected officers for the coming year in a Dec 21 voting tally. Noble Grand S. D. Speidel led the slate, with Art Winnige as Vice Grand and I. S. Jordan as Secretary among other posts filled.

G A R post No 280 held its officer election Wednesday evening selecting Commander R S Reeves Sr Vice Commander F Sherin Jr Vice Commander M Riley Chaplain E E Eno Quartermaster John Corbett Officer of the Day John Rand Guard J C Huddleston.
St Marys Court No 1632 Catholic Order of Foresters has elected officers led by Chief Ranger Vincent Kurz and Vice Chief Ranger Frank Zachek. Installation is planned for January with a roster of guardian officers and a deputy chief ranger.
The local Beavers Reserve Fund Fraternity colony plans its annual election next Tuesday evening with a “big time” event. A class to initiate new members will be held and refreshments will be served after the meeting’s business.
The fraternal order of Masons will hold an election of officers at their next meeting on the evening of Tuesday Dec 21.
The marriage of Mr. Henry Schwarzel of this city and Miss Elizabeth Oberlander of Conrath took place at 11 00 a m Tuesday at the German Lutheran church with Rev H Baumbach officiating. Miss Ida Oldendorf and Mr Fred Rauhut assisted.
The ceremony featured a brides maid and groomsman from both cities with Mr. and Mrs. Eazgleman of Conrath as attendants. Guests from Ladysmith attended and Mr. and Mrs. Martt and Mrs. Chriske traveled from Conrath. A celebration followed at the bride’s parents home in Conrath. The couple will reside in Conrath.
The Thompson Mercantile Co. remodelling adds floor space in the old State Bank building. The grocery department gains a third more space and the dry goods and shoe areas are expanded by moving the ladies ready-to-wear to the annex. A private office for Mr. Thompson, mayor and merchant, is added at the rear with entrances on Second Street.
A local dealer announces a consignment carload of good sound horses for sale. Buyers are invited to call and inspect the lot offered by French and Kilgore.
A dance at True's hall by Lyell's Harp Orchestra kicks the evening’s social calendar. The first basketball game of the season fills the new gym. The Unique theater presents Indian Wars Refought by the United States Army in six parts. The Knights of Pythias hop was postponed to next week by the committee.
A nose festival and grand ball are planned for Saturday night at Weyerhaeuser. Organizers promise attendees the best time ever with music by Lyell’s Orchestra and tickets priced to offer strong value.
The amount of school tax assessed against Jr. Dist. No. 1 Ladysmith and Flambeau for 1915 is 19275.00 dollars. The city’s share of the same is 18829.77 dollars.
This evening the alumni Cardinal and the local high school team meet in the new gym to open the basketball season. Both squads have trained hard and are in good shape for the contest with ample gallery seating and lively action anticipated.
Sheriff Stewart departed for Milwaukee to place Eva Copas in the industrial school for girls. The Copas girl, found wandering penniless in Eau Claire last week, was held while authorities were notified, and a Saturday hearing ordered her commitment to the state industrial home for girls.
Rev. C. H. Sanders, pastor of the Congregational church for six years, has submitted his resignation to the board of trustees. He will continue in the pulpit until further notice.
The Ladies' Aid Society of the Scandinavian Lutheran church announces a lute fisk supper in the church basement on Friday December 31 serving from 5 until all are served.
The famous play Brewster's Millions will be shown at the Unique Theater next Friday December 17 in five big reels.

William Schuman of four miles north of the city narrowly escaped drowning after breaking through ice on the river near the Brooklyn bridge. Skaters pulled him to safety with a long pole as he clung to the ice edge and cried for help.

J. M. Diehl of Crane disappeared while seeking work near Lemington and was traced to Phillips by a search party. Mills and camps at Phillips yielded no new information. Diehl left behind a wife and family in Crane.
Farmers of Rusk county are invited to a two day institute at Weyerhaeuser on December 16 and 17. W C Bradley of Hudson will lead with L E Scott of Stanley and Thomas Convey of Ridgeway assisting. The program emphasizes discussion over lectures and aims to improve county agriculture through shared ideas and practical expositions.
A full gymnasium witnessed the Chicago Male Quartet perform as the fourth lyceum number. Bass W. O. Smith, dubbed the big gun, delivered an entrancing rendition of The Bedouin Love Song, showcasing his deep range and solo prowess.
Lyell's Harp Orchestra will perform an orchestral concert at the Diedrich Lane Music and Novelty Store on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 for the public benefit. Grafanola demonstrations will be given between numbers.

Johannes H Voigt and Anna Sonnenberg of Stubbs apply for a marriage license. E Walter Voigt and Augusta Sonnenberg, also of Stubbs, apply for a license. The Voigt brothers wed the Sonnenberg sisters.
The city asks the Wisconsin Railroad Commission for higher water rates after months of lower consumption. A hearing is set in Madison for December 28. Current rates show hydrant, minimum, and tiered per 1000 gallon charges with a 10 percent late payment penalty, and a new proposed schedule raises hydrant rent and per day usage charges while noting a persistent $1,869.64 deficit for the year ending June 30, 1915.
Miss Elizabeth Kelly of the State University Home Economics department will lecture Tuesday afternoon December 14 at 2 30 in the gymnasium of the new high school building under the Woman's Study Club Ladysmith. All women are invited and farm women are special guests. Zimmerman Harp Orchestra will play for a dance at Ingram tonight and Jump River Saturday for a new hall dedication.
