Ladysmith Council Votes Tax Levy and Night Watch at Water Works
At the regular meeting the Common Council voted to employ a night man at the pumping station to keep steam up. The tax levy for the coming year was set at 3.5 percent of assessed value, allocated to State and County Tax, Streets and Lighting, Water Works, Interest, and Indebtedness, totaling $34 016.16. The petition to vacation Worden avenue near the railroad junction and open West Miner avenue was laid over to next meeting.

Unknown Man Killed by Falling Tree at Arpin Camp
A man who gave the name Edward Wilson was killed last week when a tree fell at an Arpin camp north of Bruce. No relatives could be located and the body was shipped to Madison on health authorities orders.

A devout Methodist and neighborly resident she died in Menominee Wisconsin after moving to Ladysmith with daughter Mrs. J. W. Carew. Funeral services were held in Baraboo December 6 and interment followed.

Big Silo at Conrath At Farmers Institute Visit
Farmers at the Conrath Farmers Institute may tour the Ben Faast Land Co. Experimental Farm two miles southeast of Conrath. A concrete silo 14 feet in diameter, eight feet underground and 22 feet high, recently completed, costs about 225 dollars. The roof is not yet on but the silo is partly filled with silage and praised as in fine condition. Superintendent J T Pritchard advocates teaching silage nutrition in schools.
