Allen Louis was found naked in a chicken coop at William Miller’s property and judged insane after a hearing before Judge Maloney. Sheriff Dodson took him to Mendota insane asylum. Louis’ clothes were found nearby with a Liberty bond and $11. He apparently planned self harm, and woke throughout the night during transport.

Thrift stamps went on sale at the post office on Saturday December 1. The first stamp was sold to Mrs. A C Roberts of Milwaukee. L C Streater of the Rusk County Bank was the first Ladysmith resident to buy. Stamps will be sold at banks schools express offices and railroad offices. Circulars on saving have been distributed to schools. If every child buys a 25 cent stamp weekly for a year total could exceed two billion dollars.
