A series of meetings hosted by the state dairymen convention convened in the city. Local dairy producers attended to discuss industry issues, cooperative efforts, and market conditions, with speakers outlining upcoming programs and policy considerations affecting members.
Prominent dairy leaders attend a multi day session at the county courthouse in Wisconsin. Mayor A C Thompson welcomes the delegates as M L Welles of Rosendale and W J Gillett speak on oleomargarine fraud, silos, crops rotation, and soil fertility, highlighting Wisconsin’s dairy leadership and projected legislative changes.
The Menasha Wooden Ware Company rebuilt a better plant with corrugated iron sheathing and newly painted windows. The new mill features solid brick fire walls and a separate brick fire pump building, plus a brick hose house and a track for log delivery. Output rises with more employees and automated loading, as operations resumed March 30 after the March 10 fire.
Russian forces press toward Cracow driving Austrians back and begin bombardment of the Austrian fortress. Reports from Bergen indicate the German liner Prinz Frederick Wilhelm has gone ashore. Desperate fighting continues in Poland with no decision yet.
A wagon owned by H. O. Shaver escaped a stall at Stelzman's butcher shop and sped through downtown lanes to Lake avenue and Second street. It overturned after the tongue fell to the rails near the Armstrong Land Co sign, tearing the signpost as onlookers praised the horses and wagon stamina.
The county clerk issued licenses this past week including Elza E. Kruse to Etta Rose Hostetter of Conrath and William Wallace to Edna Aideskewicz of Atlanta. The date listed is December 30.
The county clerk reported bounties paid in the past week to Axel Andersen of Atlanta for a wildcat and to Elmer Johnson of Atlanta for a wildcat.
A new motor driven three stage centrifugal pump arrived to upgrade the city water system. It operates with an 80 160 240 foot head, 400 gallons per minute capacity, and is housed 28 feet underground in a steel caisson. It runs without an attendant, self lubricating for a week, with gauges and meters to record water and electricity use. Cost about 900 dollars.
Clarence Watson of Tony was fined 25 dollars and costs for assaulting John Koloski at a hearing before Justice Reeves on November 26.
The Rev E S Laux will deliver a sermon at the Methodist church next Sunday at 2 30 p m. The event invites all parishioners and neighbors to attend.
Ellen Hattie Arts, month-old daughter of Mr and Mrs Henry Arts of Tony, died Monday from pneumonia. Her funeral was held at the Catholic church in Tony on Wednesday with burial in Tony cemetery.

Special services continue with growing congregations at the Methodist church. Rev. E Harris of Barron delivers stirring sermons. Next Sunday all services will be conducted by Mr Harris, with a children’s service at 3 pm. All invited.
Sheriff McNally arrested a man known as Dick Dawson alias John Day who had served time at Waupun after he allegedly stole three overcoats from the Commercial Hotel McGill's restaurant and an unidentified location. One coat belonged to Noble Rowley and Dawson tried to pawn a coat to the sheriff before being invited to stay with him.
Manager Martin announces a two night vaudeville program at the Unique theater on December 7 and 8. The MacKenzie’s Scotch Highlanders will perform dialect songs Highland flings and the sword and war dance with prior acclaim in large city theaters. Phil Brown also offers character impersonations plus the usual picture program. Admission is 10 15 and 20 cents.
The Moore Lemere barber shop re arranged to add an extra chair and three barbers to handle growing business. They plan electrical hookups for the new chair and threaten a strict policy for any yarns of questionable morality. They may hire regular barbers next spring if business remains strong.
A 38 year old woman, alone with children five miles south of town, was badly injured by a shotgun discharge last Thursday. The right forearm was mangled and amputated at the elbow by Dr. O Connor after she was brought to town.
The Rebekahs elected Hattie Moore as Noble Grand Flora Cowin as Madam Worshipful G each officer Nellie Winn as secretary Ethel Spear as financial secretary Mrs S L Chicker as treasurer Wednesday night for the ensuing year.
Joe Petrie of Waupaca has leased the old bottling works from C. P. Soule and will install a complete outfit of modern machinery. He expects to begin operations in a week or ten days.
L. Murphy of Menomonie announced plans to open a kitchen store this week in the True building at the corner of Second Street West and Lake Avenue after remodeling is completed.
The Rusk County board held a brisk fall session with many petitions for bridges and road additions. County Highway Commissioner Phil Koehler was re-elected. A new bridge plan for the Chippewa river at Beldenville was authorized at up to 8000 dollars with 2000 already allotted. A consolidated county fair funding plan was proposed linking the Rusk County Fair with the Agricultural Society and a 1000 dollar appropriation. Bonding for reclamation was postponed. tax collection reform was urged.
