The Rusk County board approved a trunk line system for county roads aimed at standardizing routes and improving maintenance. Officials said the plan would streamline funding and coordination with neighboring municipalities.
The Rusk county board adjourned after a session revealing a 2000 appropriation to secure a county agricultural agent from the state college of agriculture. The board adopted trunk line roads plan, approved highway changes, and set county tax distributions.

The Chicago Male Quartet, a four part singing group of seasoned quartet performers, will give an evening of top vocal entertainment at the high school next Wednesday December 10. Local fans of good singing are invited to attend and enjoy the refined vocal work of each member.

James Henry Miller age 66 2 4 died Friday at St Josephs hospital Chippewa Falls from cancer. He is survived by wife and eight children Ada Vanson Abraham James Rufus Bedford Albert Harvey. Funeral held Monday at residence Rev D J Howe officiating Riverside burial. Born Sept 22 1849 Sedalia Indiana married Lucinda Shea April 16 1874. Lived in Clinton county 34 years before moving to Wisconsin 1883 and Ladysmith 17 years ago.
Ernest Leroy Jordan aged 63 of this city died at his Livingston Montana home on Sunday night from a stomach hemorrhage. Funeral was held Wednesday at the Congregational church in Livingston. He was born October 2 1881 in Vernon county near West Lima and lived in Ladysmith 16 years. Survived by wife six children his parents four brothers Lee Allen Russell Cecil and two sisters Leta and Grace.
The Rebecca lodge held an election of officers Wednesday evening with nominations and results. Noble Grand Mrs. Louise Doucette, Vice Grand Miss Nellie Winn, Secretary Mrs. Bertha Winnete, Financial Secretary Mrs. Emma Wittenberger, Treasurer Mrs. Hattie Goodier, Deputy President Mrs. Emma Wirtenberger, Long Term Trustee Phillip Campbell, and Pianist Mrs. F Langenbach were elected.
Miss Verna Schweiger of Maple Center, teacher at V. V. Miller school in Grant, was thrown from a buggy when her horse veered off the road near the school. Her right arm was dislocated at the elbow, and she continues teaching despite pain and swelling.

An inquest into Joseph Somitz death held in Judge Reeves office found death caused by an unexpected fall of a pulpwood pile. The inquest aimed to address insurance under the workingmen's compensation act. Somitz funeral occurred Monday with burial at Riverside cemetery.

Mr. O. L. Cook preaches nightly at the Church of Christ on themes including After Death What. A Saturday 2:30 PM children's meeting invites all city children for fellowship. Sunday at 3:00 PM a mass meeting for men and boys features Every Inch a Man. Meetings continue indefinitely each evening.
Friday evening the Unique theatre presents a six part program recreating Indian Wars battles with real Indians and U S Army officers. The film showcases scenes shot on actual battle grounds with figures like Buffalo Bill Cody General Miles and chiefs Sitting Bull Red Cloud and Big Foot. Admission 10 and 20 cents, box seats 30 cents in Lady Smith.
The high school gymnasium opened Tuesday night for members of the local gym class. Indoor baseball and basketball, medicine ball use, and calisthenics followed by extensive use of the swimming pool and showers.
Saturday evening members of the D. of R. surprised Mr. and Mrs. Hux at their table and were pleasantly received. The Hux family plans to leave the city, so the gathering served as a farewell. The evening included cards and dancing.

John Verona found his hunting partner John Johnson dead with a single bullet through the head after a volley of shots. Coroner's jury returns that the death was caused by a bullet fired from an unknown party's high powered rifle. Johnson leaves a wife and two children on a farm three miles north of Ingram.
Three young women at a local hotel plotted vengeance against a troublesome cat over days. They snipped the feline's tail with shears after catching it, but later realized they had cut the wrong animal and mutilated an innocent pet.
