The county board completed a three day fall session with Harmony reported and notable actions taken. They approved funds to aid cattle testing, set salary schedules for county officers, and considered open meeting provisions and road projects amid debates on budget and highway work.
Fire at St. Joseph foundry where posts were to be cast interrupts the White Way project in Ladysmith. The Big Falls Water Power Co. holds the contract to furnish and install the wooden power line components, pending reestablishment of the foundry.
The adjourned term of circuit court will open next Monday. Jury not discharged. Judge Wickham notified Clerk Kermott that no jury cases will be tried at this session. Several court cases are slated for hearing.
County officials debated welfare needs and the hiring of a county nurse with proposed salaries and expense limits. The board examined bridge contract charges in Rusk and allocated funds to Hawkins for road work refunds while considering county aid for the Ladysmith library and noting support from local supervisors. Local talent presents a royalty play titled Acquitted at the high school gymnasium on Wednesday evening December 14. Directed by Ben Gottsacker the production is described as a strong human interest drama with light comedy woven throughout. Cast details to be announced next week.
The Manitowoc Times reports the sudden death of Gertrude Biller Teitgen at 4 25 PM Thanksgiving Day after a brief illness. She was the wife of City Attorney Clarence E Teitgen and mother of a six year old boy. Born January 23 1898 in Glen Flora she and her husband moved to Manitowoc four years ago where he practices law. Funeral is set for Sunday at 2 PM at Theodore Teitgen residence with interment at Evergreen. She is survived by her husband, son, her parents Mr and Mrs Eli Biller, a brother Edward and sister Mrs August Jipson.
Lyle Nelson of Ladysmith pleaded guilty in municipal court after being accused of killing two partridges out of season in Big Falls on November 19. Deputy Warden M. Soule arrested him. Judge Williams suspended sentence for six months with Nelson paying $2.70 in costs.
The county board approved a 5000 dollar appropriation for St Marys hospital in Ladysmith at yesterday’s session. The funds will not be released until after tax collection.
Leo J. Zimmerman of Ladysmith is granted a patent for a jewelers eye roupe a magnifying eye glass that attaches to spectacles. Rusk County will not exhibit at the state potato show in Milwaukee next week though County Agent Schoepf plans to attend briefly.
At the Service Star Legion meeting held November 25, officers were elected. President Mrs. H T Blanchard, Vice President Mrs. Geo Preston, Secretary Mrs. Gertrude Stevens, Treasurer Mrs. Wim Austin, Historian Mrs. J C Hagelbarger.
Seventy five Ladysmith children under Jessie Lambert of the A. A. Rose Company Kansas City Mo present The Marriage of the Midgets or The Tom Thumb Wedding at the gymnasium Tuesday evening Dec 6 starting at 8 o clock. Admission for adults 50 cents school children 25 cents.
Walter Seeley admitted taking a Winchester valued at 386 dollars from George Uttermark on November 19 in Justice Whitman’s court. He fled with the rifle to a boat by J. W. Carew’s home, later confessed to a friend, leading to his arrest. The case moves to County Judge Maloney for sentencing as the justice’s jurisdiction ends.
Pell Tollard appeared in municipal court Tuesday charged by L. M. Soule with wilfully pointing a gun at Ben Plummer a deputy game warden in Big Falls on November 19. Tollard denied the charge and retained Thomas and Fisher to defend him. The case was adjourned.
six year old Joyce Smith daughter of Mr and Mrs Wm Smith died at home in Ladysmith Saturday and was buried Monday in the Catholic Riverside cemetery.
Joe Mallach paid a total of 13.29 in fines and costs in Justice Kirwan's court Monday for using profane language at a community meeting in Atlanta on Saturday.

Congregational Sunday school officers and teachers met at the Bordner home Monday evening.

Police in Ladysmith were alerted that Mr and Mrs Charles Brown and Miss Margaret Smith were under surveillance in Eau Claire but authorities could not confirm them. Later the Eau Claire chief named Dave Ketchum Mrs Wm Stout and Anne Anderson a Ladysmith girl about 17 as the parties. Officer Lozier notified Stout who planned to meet his wife. The trio reportedly traveled from Ladysmith to Janesville via Eau Claire stopping at a hotel for a couple of days before continuing by train from Conrath.
In J & Secombe’s absence the city council names C I Swaim assistant assessor to value Flambeau annexation. State supreme court ruling cleared the action. Salary set at six dollars per day. Swaim visited all real estate except one with a bulldog kept for personal property. He then assessed the bulldog, noting it had not been assessed before.
The Wisconsin Industrial Commission ordered local action on unemployment following Governor Blaine's suggestion. Ladysmith Mayor Lyell appointed T. Ditmanson, Mrs. W. M. Vaughan, and D. H. Richards to lead city efforts. More details and materials are to be published next week as they arrive from the commission.
Henry Wilson relocates his land office to a refurbished second floor space in his building on First Street after Pioneer National Bank expanded occupies the ground floor. He recently sold 130 acres seven miles north of Apollonia to investor Spurgeon Stringer.
In cold weather the fire whistle will blow twice daily to verify operation. One blast occurs at 7 00 a m and the second at 6 00 p m each day.
Ladysmith Athletic Club routed Gilman A C 44 to 6 on Wednesday with Royal Reik coaching Gilman and Gilman’s Carl Lee and Will Lyell absent from the contest. The Ladysmith team later traveled to Marshfield with a large local turnout.
James Hraban and Miss Alta Winterwood of Tony were married at the Methodist parsonage in this city by Rev. C. W. Emery. The couple plans to reside in Tony.
