Parole Breaker John Adams Sentenced in Eau Claire
John Adams, on parole from a larceny conviction, broke parole August 2 near expiration. Sheriff Dodson found him August 21 in Litchfield, Minnesota, and Judge Wickham sentenced him last Friday to six months in the county jail. He may work locally but must reside in jail and earn only amounts for incidental expenses.

Dr W L Stephenson received a telegram Sunday ordering him to report at Camp Dodge near Des Moines Iowa for active service and left for camp the next day. His son Lee Stephenson is at Camp Meigs near Washington DC in a supply company after enlisting as a chauffeur in the quartermasters corps. He was sent to Camp Meigs last week from Jefferson Barracks Missouri where he had been for about three weeks.

Vinton Moore Dies in Battle for Democracy
Corporal Vinton Moore, Ladysmith youth, killed in action in France on July 31 as American forces fought near Kismes. Born August 15, 1898, he enlisted with the 127th Infantry ahead of war, later serving in Lorraine and the Marne battles. A memorial service is set for Sunday at 2 50 PM at the Christian Church with an outdoor program to follow at the park.
