E C Wilson, about 50, working at Crane, was sentenced to one year at Waupun by Judge Wickham after confessing to a forged $1 check drawn on Chas Freeman and signed by J C Smith. The check, used to skip a cash balance owed, was recovered from the Armstrong Land Co office and Wilson was bound over to circuit court. Sheriff Foster and DA Kirwan accompanied him to Eau Claire.

Guy Carleton Forrest son of Mrs. C. S. Freeman drowned August 9 at Iowa Falls during a Bible conference outing. Suct ion of a Whirlpool pulled him under. rescue occurred in twenty minutes but he died. Funeral held at Lady smith Baptist Church. interment Riverside Cemetery. Born May 17, 1883, in Plattsmouth Nebraska, he studied at Grand Island Baptist College and Central College Pella, aspiring missionary work. He preached in Parkersburg Iowa since finishing school. Family expresses gratitude for kindnesses, flowers, and choir music. Also notes death of Henry Mary Hein, five months, Tony Nebraska, after brief illness.

Stump Puller Busy As Rusk County Firm Clears Land
The Rusk County Land Clearing Co. resumed work with a steam stump puller on A. Van Den Heuval’s farm, clearing three acres in a half day and 240 stumps in 85 hours with five workers. Miss Janette Foster the infant daughter of Sheriff Foster received two antique silver spoons from her great-aunt Miss Addie Foster of Los Angeles. The spoons, about 200 years old, passed through the Foster family and date to the great-great-grandmother of Miss Addie Foster.
