Illinois Thrifty Drug Company reached a stipulation with the Retail Clerks International Protective Association and the National Labor Relations Board. The firm reinstated Doris Arbuthnot and paid her 650.00 to cover wages from January 10, 1947 to reinstatement, with a 60 day posting notice of non interference in union activities.
The 1946 Community Chest campaign, chaired by H Rand Rodgers with co-chair Robert Minskeer, aims for a goal of 206169. Firms soon paid arrearages after charges were filed, and penalties may be set to deter future breaches.
The International Teamsters Union will not run a national political drive and will leave candidate endorsements and fundraising to its locals. President Tobin announced that focus shifts to defeating congressional Taft Hartley supporters, with locals set to select endorsements and conduct any fundraising, bypassing a centralized pre election conference.
