Perk Adams of 1402 Bowie is the first winner of the La Marque Times Football Contest, receiving first prize of $20. Seven runners up will share the remaining prize money among A.F. Bonnet John Kurtz Stanley Geiger E.M. Harrison Melinda Carter Jesse Villarreal and Mickey Ethredge. Prize money may be picked up at the La Marque Times office 1118 Bayou Rd.
La Marque coach Tom Williams says the Cougars reversed their game one to game two, aiming to move the ball better against Northbrook. He praises the defense and stresses execution as Northbrook, with a 6 foot 185 pound average, uses Islet formation and strong runners led by a quick quarterback. The game is set for Friday at 7 30 p.m.
The owner of an antique car reports missing a set of American flags during the Buttermilk Junction Parade. Flags are believed to be at the La Marque Times office for pickup. Birthday wishes note several residents with dates in September. A raccoon is reportedly at PAUL HOPKINS's home, swimming in a pool and climbing a TV antenna, and may be caught at night.
La Marque Public Library announces a book sale October 22 and 23 and requests used books including children’s books, paperbacks and comics. Donations accepted Tuesday through Friday 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Call 938-7566 for pickup. Clean house and support the library.
