Realtors Warn of Socialized Housing Threat in TAR Speech
Beverly of the Texas Association of Realtors told the Texas City La Marque Board that current housing problems must be solved to avoid socialized housing. He said Realtors nationwide are working with officials to aid President Nixon on wage and price controls in real estate. He noted TAR's Realtor Lawyer Committee formation and support for a Real Estate Research Center at Texas A&M University, with a first project to follow.

La Marque Police Department’s September 1971 report lists mechanical defects as the leading traffic violation with 57 cases, followed by 43 for no driver's license, 17 for driving to the left of center, and 12 for stop sign violations. There were 34 vehicle accidents involving 70 vehicles, one death, and nine injuries. Burglaries topped crimes with ten cases, plus eight thefts and eight vandalism incidents. Two cars were stolen. police handled 39 family disturbances, 16 curfew violations, 14 prowler calls, and 16 escorts and open-building investigations among civic duties.

His firm moved to 1313 First Street as the dairy era faded, horses replaced cows, and pigeon food became a regional hit. He served on the city council, was mayor twice, and in 1960 retired from running. The family, with Boots Curry, three daughters, and community ties, mirrored La Marque’s early days from Treasure Island in 1931 through a slow shift away from industry.
