Scout Troop 222 Banquet and Court of Honor
Scout Troop 222 held a Court of Honor banquet with a record number of awards. Second Class Ranks were awarded to Chuck and Steve Rice Ken Treacher Harley Ross Steve Olson Jerry Treaster Sanday Dillard Frank Smith Farral Garrie Larry Parsons Randall Weede and Mark Jennings. Russell Halvorsen received First Class Rank John Wiggins Star Rank and Clifford Halvorsen Life Rank. Merit badges were earned by the above and by Mark Barron Lowry Robin Ned Ash Bob Florance David Polk and Bobby Dawson. The 50 mile award went to Clifford Halvorsen Robin Ash Mark Barron. Troop 222 is sponsored by the First Baptist Church of La Marque.

Chad Jeremy Is 1st Son For Janecek Family
Mr. and Mrs. James KE Janecek announce the birth of their first child, a son named Chad Jeremy, born Oct. 3 at St Mary's Infirmary in Galveston. He weighed seven pounds. Grandparents are S. E. Janecek, John Silvers of La Marque, and the late Mary Silvers. Great grandparents are Clara Silvers of Wedhes Texas and Annie Creek of Houston. The mother is Johanie Silvers, formerly of La Marque.

Eight Cadette Scouts from Troop 642 earned First Class badges in a candlelight ceremony at the Scout House on October 2. Honorees Katy Burger Angela Dotson Minda Duitscher Susan Eldridge Ellen Lessa Gail Macik Marjorie Oldham Cherill Schmidt were pinned by mothers and given lighted candies as a symbol of ongoing growth in Scouting. Parents and troop leaders spoke on learning duties and future guidance, followed by a friendship circle and taps.

They attended sessions at the Waco Civic Center, with Mrs Gates holding district and grand matron roles. accompanying attendees included Mrs English Taylor Allen and others. The group also joined District Mission No 2 Bible discussion at Toliver Chapel Baptist Church and visited Mrs Clauda Allen.
