Li'l Abner debuts this evening at 7 30 in La Marque High School Auditorium with about 150 students involved. Al Capp characters come alive in Dogpatch as plans for bomb testing threaten the town and Mammy Yokum’s tonic boosts body and health. Tickets available at the door or from choir and drama groups, with performances Thursday and Saturday evenings.

Bob McKinney native of Alvin returns home after years abroad and in Central America. A gifted artist and former Division Artist for the 4th Division in Frankfort Germany, he directs La Marque High School students in Li'l Abner with student-built sets. He counts heads of state and tribal leaders among his close friends and has worked with internationally known entertainers in the Special Services.

Schools Awarded Federal Grant for Desegregation
The Department of Health, Education and Welfare awarded $51,000 to the La Marque School District through Ald to Desegregated Schools. Dr Fred Williams, assistant superintendent, said HEW officials in Dallas announced the grant after a meeting last Friday. He outlined funded programs during Monday night’s school board meeting.

Rape Charges Involving 17 Year Old La Marque Girls
