January Garden Calendar From County Extension Agent
Garden tips advise selecting and planting trees shrubs vines and perennials to finish planting plans. Rake and compost fallen leaves. Pansy plantings require about one pound of balanced fertilizer per 100 square feet every four to six weeks. Plan gladiolus corms for February and continually plant through February and March. Remove camellia petals to reduce blight risk and spray soil beneath camellia if disease history exists. Prune evergreens mid February and finish bed prep for spring. Indoors sow seeds of listed annuals to grow plants before summer heat. Plant roses using first grade stock in well prepared raised beds.
