Mrs N Murphy hosted the 500 club ladies at Main avenue with first prize to Mrs Fred Swaney and consolation to Mrs W R Jones followed by a three course luncheon. The Methodist Home Missionary Society planned October 19 food sales and a girls missionary society with a mixed youth chorus. Rev H E McLeod spoke on youth work and papers by Mrs Gilflan Cox and Bush highlighted lost opportunities conservation and Ade line Smith Industrial Institute. Ice cream and wafers ended the program. Next meeting at Mrs Bush with a missionary tea.

Fruit centers report a splendid prune crop ready for picking with large packing crews in Union Cove and surrounding orchards. Rynerson prune orchard yields are heavy with good quality though rain paused picking for a few days. General Cyodlbrod notes heavy yields and strong early storms leaving most plums fine and well formed.

Twenty Four Hour Car Race Opens In New York
At six o'clock this evening the Hudson Fulton celebration motor car race begins under the Motor Racing association. Twelve cars are entered with twenty four hour records and a special prize for the greatest mileage in the final hour promises an exciting finish to the season. The race will conclude at six o'clock tomorrow evening.
