Larders Overflow as New Grain Warehouses Rise
Wheat larders in Union county overflow despite a new Island City cooperative warehouse holding at least 30 000 sacks. Five mills between Elgin and Union run full shifts yet cannot store incoming grain or meet flour demand. An Irbler addition is complete and a 70 foot expansion at Union is underway to handle the harvest surge. The industry moves to speed up storage and capacity ahead of threshing estimates.
