The Union Pacific reports a shortage of gasoline motor cars and warns production cannot meet demand. It plans to spend about $700,000 to expand facilities in Omaha, and warns other railroads and suburban lines that orders cannot be supplied at present.
A monena was seen applying a torch to dry slab wood near the Sumpter Valley railroad tracks in South Baker. The arsonist fled before capture and remains under close watch by authorities in Baker City Democrat reporting.
