Next Monday the La Grande school of music will open its doors for the ninth year under the directorship of Prof and Mrs Day. Those desiring to take Jessong will appreciate the advantage of commencing with the beginning of the term.
Watat Superintendent H C Gilman faced charges of assault and battery on Fireman Bowman in a case heard by Justice Angus Stewart. The matter was taken under advisement until Saturday morning. Witnesses described a confrontation at the Andrews and Bearty store over a board bill after Bowman left railroad service and resisted collection efforts.

Notice effective September 3 until further notice states tickets will not be honored on Train No 6 between Portland and Huntington. The train began a wake regular schedule with stops to pick up passengers bound for points east of Huntington.
