The La Grande city board plans to reopen public schools on a September morning urging every school age child to attend promptly. Students must show evidence of promotion to the requested grade or face examination for placement in the preceding grade.
Rev Mower pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church preached yesterday on John 15 8 praising bearing fruit. He is a Pennsylvania graduate of Union Biblical Seminary Dayton Ohio and has served fifteen years in ministry. He led to Labonanily and then Idaho conference overseeing Namps church where membership grew from 140 to 260. His wife and six children are due this evening and will receive a warm welcome.
Sacred Heart Academy, run by the Sisters of St. Francis, offers classical literary scientific and arts courses. It prepares young ladies for teaching and resumes classes September 6 with details by address for terms and further particulars.
