Scriber Bows To Inevitable Goes To Prison In Pendleton

J W Bember former cashier of Farmers and Traders National bank La Grande is en route to Portland to await grand jury action in November on federal charges. He appeared before Commissioner John Hatley and received a $25000 bail. He slept at a Pendleton hotel under guarded supervision with an armed guard at his door. Local citizens expressed sympathy for his family as the case proceeds and in Salem thousands gamble on the presidential outcome Taft backers and Oregon bets dominate wagering.

Hermiston Dairy Proprietor Dies After Runaway

Pendleton Oct 28 reports William Sommerville Brown age 39 proprietor of Hermiston dairy died after a Sunday run away accident. He was injured internally when thrown from his wagon and died at Hotel Williams in Hermiston.

New York Oct 29 Broughton Brandenburg magazine writer was arraigned in general sessions on an indictment for larceny in the second degree.
