Morrison Case Ends with State Receivers Estate for School Fund
In one of Union counties longest trials, the State of Oregon won over the estate of John Morrison. The jury found Catherine France the mother of John Morrison and ruled the estate’s real property valued at 12 000 to 15 000 dollars should be held by the state for 400 years and then distributed to the school fund. The home place 240 acres near Emily, 80 acres near Alfcel, 200 acres east of Alfcel and timber land near Hilgard formed the estate sold under court orders. The district attorney may appeal to the supreme court and seek continued sale proceeds for the fund.
